Making a difference in your neighborhood starts with you. Perhaps you have an idea for a vacant lot: maybe a garden, farm, or play space? LA Open Acres connects you to data from various sources to give you a good start in building a healthier place to live, work, and play.

We hope that you find the resources like maps, toolkits, contact information, and ideas on this website valuable to your work and activism to develop community-operated spaces in place of another vacant lot. If not, let us know what we can do to make our resources work better for you.

While we continue to build the power of this website, here are some ways you can get involved right now:

Help us collect data and information about vacant lots in your neighborhood by volunteering with the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust and the Transforming Inner-City Lost Lots (TILL) project. TILL will provide lot data that we’ll use to build LA Open Acres. For more information about helping us to collect data, please contact the LA Neighborhood Land Trust here.
